| Welcome
Soybean is an important
crop for farmers. Each year, Kansas farmers usually grow about 3
million acres of soybean and they are worth more than $500 million.
Soybean is used in almost everything we use every day. Soybean meal is
feed to livestock, people eat soy products, soybean is used in crayons,
newspaper ink, and probably more than a thousand other ways. But we don’t
normally think about how soybean is used nor do we think about how
farmers grow the crop. Well, we want you to learn about soybean
production and have some fun in the process. We will be watching a field
on the K-State Agronomy Farm from planting all the way through harvest
this coming fall. We hope you enjoy it. |
