The purple areas of the map show where this variety is best adapted.
Jagger -  This variety has seen better days. Its acreage is declining and moving west. There are a number of newer varieties that are better adapted to central and eastern Kansas now. It is an early variety with medium height, excellent grazing potential, and good milling and baking characteristics, but it is very susceptible to leaf rust.  It has good tolerance to wheat streak mosaic and stripe rust. It has pretty good tolerance to acid soils. It can shatter and it greens up very early in late winter or early spring when the weather warms. This makes it very susceptible to late winter and spring freezes.
