This site contains Poinsettia Trials Results from three sites: the Flint Hills of Manhattan, Kansas; the plains of Urbana, Illinois; and the fall line area at Petersburg in central Virginia. In years past Tennessee State University in Nashville also contributed data, so results from this location are also presented.

We evaluate basic growth characteristics and timing of flower development (response weeks) of diverse Euphorbia pulcherrima cultivars under natural photoperiods in each location. The trials are intregal components of our fall greenhouse management courses.  Consumer preferences surveys yield information about which poinsettia cultivars retail buyers and end-consumers want to purchase.
