Agriculture Today Radio Program Tuesday, July 10


K-State irrigation engineer Dan Rogers reminds crop irrigators that
this weekend is the deadline for enrolling in the new multi-year flex
account option through the Kansas Department of Agriculture...which
allows growers to draw from their five-year water allocation as the
need arises

K-State crop nutrient specialist Dave Mengel talks about nitrogen
management for forage sorghum stands for maximum yield response,
while avoiding potential nitrate toxicity problems with that forage

The first in a series on the possibility of the lesser prairie
chicken being listed as a threatened and endangered species, which
could have a dramatic impact on western Kansas agriculture: today,
from the southwest regional office of the U.S Fish and Wildlife
Service, Michelle Shaughnessy, talks about the listing process and
what has led to it

And K-State wildlife specialist Charlie Lee looks at a new study
which evaluates the impact of habitat on deer fawn survival in the
Great Plains

Agriculture Today is broadcast each weekday morning at 10:00 on KFRM
Radio, Clay Center (550 AM) and KLOE Radio, Goodland (730 AM), which
collectively reach 75 counties in Kansas, parts of southern Nebraska,
eastern Colorado and northern Oklahoma...the broadcast can also be
