About Publications
What's a numbered publication?
Numbered publications are written by Kansas Cooperative Extension Service and Agricultural Experiment Station faculty. They are peer reviewed, and are edited and distributed by staff in the Communications Department. They are usually intended to be used for several years, and some are updated annually. The publications listed in the Publications link at the left are nearly all numbered publications. They are found with the Publications search at the top of this page.
What isn't a numbered publication?
Documents such as newsletters, fact sheets, journal articles, etc. are produced by departments, with the help of Communications Department staff if desired. Newsletters, fact sheets, and similar documents are found with searches from the main KSRE search page, and from searches in the webs of their own departments or offices. (Horticulture, for example.)
Why do we prepare and distribute publications?
Our first bulletin, published in 1888, describes the Hatch Act and the need for better knowledge about agricultural practice.
