Real-Time PCR Workshop

June 10-11th, 2015

The IGF offers the two-day Real-Time PCR workshop. The workshop is a combination of lectures and hands-on experiments on the Real-Time PCR, primer/probe design, experimentation, and data analysis. Participants will perform SYBR Green I based gene expression analysis, TaqMan probe based diagnostic analysis and KASP assay based allelic discrimination analysis on provided samples using the Bio-Rad CFX 96 Real-Time PCR system. This will simulate the complete process of Real-Time PCR reactions and analysis of subsequent data.

  • Overview of Real-Time PCR Technology
  • A practical approach to assay design for qPCR
  • Real-Time PCR for plant pathogen diagnostics

Lab / Computer lab Exercise

  • Primer and probe design
  • Protocol programming
  • Gene expression analysis reaction set up
  • KASP genotyping assay reaction set up
  • TaqMan plant pathogen diagnostics assay reaction set up
  • Data analysis
