The Flax Council of Canada web pages provide flax-based recipes from appetizers to dessert as well as a downloadable and printable Flax Quick Snacks, Flax Family Favorite Cookbook featuring 28 recipes and sample recipes from The Amazing Flax Cookbook. Nutritional information is available for each recipe, however, fat content is reported as monounsaturated, polyunsaturated or saturated; omega-3 content is not specified.

Books with Omega-3 Recipes

Both marine (seafood) and terrestrial-based (flax) omega-3 rich foods are included in the recipes of two books about omega-3 fats. Check below for more information about the books and link to some of the recipes they include:

  • The Omega Diet by Artemis P. Simopoulos, MD and Jo Robinson
    The Omega Diet, released in 1999, devotes about one-half of the text to recipes, shopping and cooking to help omega-3 intakes increase. In addition to presenting calorie, protein, carbohydrate, sodium and fat level, omega-3 content is specified by alpha-linolenic, eicosapentaenoic, and docosahexaenoic levels and the omega-6 to omega-3 ratio is computed.
  • The Omega-3 Connection by Andrew Stoll (search for Stoll)
    Chapter 15 is entitled Recipes: Good Health and Good Taste. Recipes are categorized as salads, entrees, desserts and snacks, breads and spreads, and breakfast ideas. Nutrition information regarding calorie, protein, carbohydrate, cholesterol, sodium, fat (saturated, monounsaturated, polyunsaturated) and omega-6 to omega-3 ratio.
