Three lessons to help Extension agents share important information with targeted Kansas audiences.
Individuals and families need the skills and motivation to organize their important papers. Organized Financial Records are a key to a strong credit standing, essential to help save money on taxes, and are a continuing indication of financial stability and progress.

1. Using reserved copies of the Getting Organized Evaluation contact
Participants to see if they were able to: • make any changes? • take
any actions? • accomplish a project they feel good about? Some might
say they: -organized or cleaned out some records (family, financial,
property); -created a list of Important Papers for family; -cleaned out
the dash in the pick-up; -created or updated a home inventory; -got a
safe deposit box and put important documents in it.
Prompts you might use to start a conversation:
- "At the Getting Organized program on (date, place) you indicated in the evaluation you handed in that 'the first thing you hoped to do after the program was -------------." Were you able to start this project?
- "Are there other projects that you've started?"
- "Are there projects that you have on your 'to-do' list that you hope to start soon?"
- "Would I be able to use your name in a 'Success Story' report? Real stories give credibility to the work that K-State Research Extension does. [Many people will say yes. If you sense hesitation you might ask if you could use their initials instead.]
