Promoted BMPs that reduce the amount of time livestock have access to streams and rivers, by developing and hosting a demonstration in Greenwood County of rotational grazing that emphasizes the related benefits to the land, livestock, and the producers’ bottom line.

 


River Basin Signage
Installed signs indicating Wakarusa Watershed boundaries and the receiving river to raise awareness of the impact activities have on water quality.

 


Creative Kansas Kids
Encouraged statewide interest among primary grade children about basic good agricultural practices that protect water quality, by developing lesson plans for educators and expanding a children’s art competition. http://www.ksagclassroom.org/

 


Paddlers’ Guide to Kansas
Collected, verified, and published a guide of recreational opportunities on Kansas’ navigable rivers and lakes, to encourage more citizens to explore the surface waters in the state, and become familiar with needs for surface water protection.
