Gratemates and Classmates
100 middle school youth in the Kansas City area were involved in installing and monitoring storm drains to evaluate and demonstrate the nonpoint source pollution contribution of rainwater runoff.

 


TMDL Information Website
Developed a web site for Southwest Kansas TMDLs. It included locally pertinent information and photos of Best Management Practices (BMPs), and resource links.

Integrated Runoff Management for Cropland
Established a demonstration plot of Best Management Practices (BMPs) for agricultural lands, held an event that 61 producers attended, and created a publication identifying the costs and benefits of utilizing BMPs for agriculture and on water quality.

Water Awareness
Developed a short video about water protection to be used statewide in public service announcements, and purchased TV ad time to run the clip.

 


Reducing Storm Water Runoff on Agricultural Lands
Developed and hosted a field demonstration in Bourban County of the use of agricultural Best Management Practices (BMPs) that reduce and filter storm water run-off. 45 producers and 9 others attended.

 


Warm Season Grasses & Water Savings
Developed a public education program for the City of Hays that educated citizens about the irrigation water needs of various lawn turf grasses, and how to select and use turf grasses that conserve water.
