Flinchbaugh Roast Fires Up KARL Endowment

 

         

K-State Agricultural Economist, Dr. Barry Flinchbaugh, Co-Founder of the KARL Program, was honoured at a Roast on Friday evening, November 16 at the Marriot Hotel Ballroom in Wichita. The Roast was a benefit for the Kansas Agriculture and Rural Leadership Program to enhance the KARL Foundation ' s Flinchbaugh Endowment Fund. Proceeds of the fund will help finance the KARL Program ' s Blue Chip Seminar in the future. The Roast will likely generate over $50,000 in net proceeds.

A group of organizations and business es chose to show their appreciation to the lifetime dedication to the agricultural industry and state of Kansas of Dr. Barry Flinchbaugh by underwriting the event. The lead sponsor at the Platinum Level ($5,000) was Farm Credit Associations of Kansas. The Gold Level ($2,500) underwriters included Cereal Food Processors, the Kansas Ag Bankers Association, Kansas Bankers Association, Kansas Livestock Association, Kansas Wheat and US Bank. Over 240 guests enhanced the underwriters commitment to the event.

                             

Speakers included Senator Pat Roberts, Former USDA Secretary Dan Glickman, Senator Sam Brownback, Governor Kathleen Sebelius, Kansas Secretary of Agriculture Adrian Polansky, K-State President Dr. Jon Wefald, K-States Dean of the College of Agriculture and Director of Extension Dr. Fred Cholick, KARL Program Director Jack Lindquist, former KARL board member Jay Armstrong, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association vice president Kendal Frazier, KARL board member Mark Coberly, and Flinchbaugh’s children, Dr. James Flinchbaugh and Katie Flinchbaugh, and in response, Dr. Barry Flinchbaugh. The Roast was emceed by Eric Atkinson, the Voice of Agriculture for Kansas State University.

         

Anyone that wishes to contribute to the Flinchbaugh Endowment fund may send their check made payable to KARL, Inc. and marked FOR Flinchbaugh Endowment Fund.
